The idea of the “Offer” is the primal, utopian, idea of overcoming the longing for balance or the longing for something to be given in return. When a gift is given, the part which receives it finds itself in the obligation of giving back. The Offer as I intend it is, instead, “pure giving”, where no gain is possible, where this balance is completely subverted. This can happen if the offer is already considered as a giving back. The ritual of offering fruit to the water tries to enact this idea of pure giving.
